Ok so we did a coastal ride today and got caught in heavy rain too, so now bikes are wet and must be full of sand (as everything else is!). Discussion now is how best to clean them up.

Wash down first with a hose, preferably not high pressure, just to wash away loose grit and sand..preferably before the crud dries. Then clean the bike pretty much as normal.

Depends on your bike and how precious you are / fine tuned it is.

AVOID pressure washer, just hose - may be worth some surface degreaser to breakdown grease traps (jockey wheeks, derailleurs, chain) that have now clung onto sand, then re-lube afterwards.

If youre on a high end / precision bike or you are finikity, then good excuse for a strip and rebuild and clean everything out.

I'd suggest a thorough chain clean!

Hose, wipe hose, strip down to basic components, including taking the balls out of every race. Clean and re-lube and rebuild and listen to the sand grinding in places you'd hardly credit.

Is that tongue-in - cheek?

ShelBroCo are a US "Company" that pioneered cycling is a way that no-one else has

There was also the Carrababy baby transport system:
