OK I give up - I can't persuade you bigtallfatbloke.

What about free beer - would that help?

Not sure about free beer - but there is free wine to be had at Irache. Very nice too as I recall. Here's a link to more info http://www.irache.com/index_eng.html
I walked the Camino from St Jean Pied de Port in 2006. Got as far as Leon before my feet told me to stop being so silly and go home! I agree with previous posters that some parts are ok for bikes, some parts not. With the right tyres most of it should be doable on a galaxy, btfb. The best thing about the camino is the people you meet, just picking up with companions and travelling with them, and in my case keeping them awake in the night with your snoring ;) (most of the accommodation along the way is in dormitories)
The camino has been "unfinished business" for me since then - I'm tempted!

I can hear El Camino calling you.

You'll never forgive yourself if you don't go and I'll send you photographs every step of the way so you can see what you missed.;)
