Saw my first lambs of the year today

I managed to squeeze a quick bike ride in this afternnon and saw some new born lambs at a nearby farm. None of the ewes anywhere else have them yet. Are there any where you are yet?

OOOH yes. Saw a fairly grown up one last week. Possibly hand reared as it was pretty tame and no sign of a mother. Also more normal fields full during the week.

Llamas in field on my ride this morning here but never seen any babies. I spose they are only there for their wool. Seen a few in various fields around here whilst out biking or walking.

Absolutely gobsmacked to see newborns in December on a farm just north of Pickering.

Although not common, November/December lambs are not unusual.

I used to love lambing time as a kid - working on family farms at all hours of the day/night and, more importantly, driving tractors and Land Rovers.

It was just accepted at school that during certain times in the farming calendar farmers boys wouldn't be attending.
