Scalped by roadies

I was around 35 miles in on the return leg of my ride today when I was scalped by two silent roadies. Now having put my M+ tyres on my Hardtail I gave chase and whilst not making up much any ground gave them an additional gap advantage. I was just getting my second wind when those cowardly roadies, clearly knowing my route decided to stay on the main road rather than turn off onto a secondary route and thus take my route. I would have had them if they had turned off I tell you!!!!

What makes me laugh are the ones that realise that someones behind them & catching, after a mile or so of hard effort realise you're still catching them, though at a slower pace, then stop to answer their phone.

Aaah the old "you only caught me 'cause I answered my phone even though there's not actually anyone on the other end and in fact it didn't really ring" tactic. It's a classic.
When I get caught and passed I just spend the next few miles pedalling through a jealous and envious rage on account of my distinct lack of speed.

Err obviously not, unless he too was being funny

I think it was very nice of the roadies to stay on the main road and not pre-empt your route, thus saving you further embarassment

Not exactly true as I get a fair number of people overtake me, almost all of them I pass within half a mile... most who overtaking me are at a low sprint level of effort where as I'm cruising at a bit below my LT.

I dont think Ive ever overtaken anyone..well there was a kid on a BMX...and an old lady with a shopping basket on her bike
and I only just took her !

I'm glad most of you took this in the vein it was intended. If I was capable of beating roadies on my MTB I would be a serious force to be reckoned with. I am not and thus I am not
