Hi, I'm planning to cycle from Scarborough to Loch Ness, any advice/recommendations on routes and B&B up the north east Coast via Newcastle, Edinburgh and Perth would be appreciated.

Lindisfarne is a must, however time it so that you stay overnight as it is a beautiful tranquil place and vastly different from teh hustle and bustle of the tourists during the day.

You do need to plan with tides as well

We stayed at the Ship

NCN Route 1 will see you from Scarborough to beyond Edinburgh - although sections of it aren't particularly suitable for a road bike, apparently.

My trips were some years ago, so it may have changed, but the section between Beal (Lindisfarne) and Berwick on Tweed leaves something to be desired. The part that runs along the track by Beal in particular was a rutted potholed track

No problem late June 2015 on a Dawes Galaxy; rear panniers with 32mm tyres. Probably best to avoid after days of heavy rain though.
