i know this sounds silly, but i am scared of the frost, i wish all this ice and frost would go away, i'm soft i know lol

Don't be scared! Just take it easy and lay off the front brake as much as possible. I've fallen off twice on ice, once badly but it still hasn't put me off, just made me more careful/cautious and selective about which bike I take out.

Thought this was a Secteur owners only thread...

Good idea Potsy... So I'm just going to start one.
Until you do, I guess I'd better chip in to this one.

Snow and ice is unnerving, because stuff happens which you cannot anticipate or control. I reckon you have every right to be scared of it. However, there's something to be said for facing your fears and getting on with it. Experience might turn "scared" into "wary of" and it's all good practice for when the tarmac is back up to 40 degrees.

Not soft - sensible.

As someone else has said, frost is ok but ice is a different kettle of fish. I've had a couple of nasty offs with Mr Black Ice involved.

If it's really bad, I just don't bother, otherwise I walk the bike to the main A road.

I know what you mean - I came off on black ice on my first club run on Sunday. Now battered and bruised to hell, I'll be a little more cautious on those lanes that are more exposed if the temperature is anywhere near freezing.

Pops back in........

TBH, the only reason I rode this year in the ice was because I invested in studded tyres. If it's frosty, and a little icy, but dry, I usually walk to the main road, then it's clear. If wet and icy, then I donn't ride.

Now, I get the MTB out with the studded snow tyres.

Not really an option on any 'road' bike like a Secteur, so play it safe.

It was busy, nearly took out a ped in Cheadle.... got it on video... he walked out in front of me, nothing obscuring his view of me approaching.....

Still wish I had my Fibre flares but they packed in...... put two smart superflashes on the rucksack instead, and they are a bit bonkers.......

Thought it was you as you see bugger all folk with decent lights. Nearly shouted "Oi...Oi....." but that bloke near me had crap lights...rear LED had virtually no juice left.

Caught Mr Magic Shine again this morning at those lights.... nuts those lights are on flashing ;)...

it was -3 when i went to bed last night, and i thought"oh great" but when i woke at 6am it was cloudy and no frost, so it was all good.
i'm thinking of doing the Gower bike ride in july, 29mile, for the british heart foundation, so i think i need to get down to proper cycling and stop being soft lol.
by the way,the name is mik

You'll be fine by July - how long is your current commute ? 29 miles is very do-able on a bike like that....you'll breeze it.

Not worth the risk, as a bad fall can have you off for weeks....
