Why didn't the OP just sit up, slow right down and slowly glance behind?

If the driver became lippy, the OP should have slowly come to a stop and politely asked him or her WTF they thought they were doing harassing and trying run down cyclists?
The OP was confident and comfortable in the actions the OP was taking and the OP has extensive experience of that road at (ahem) rush hour and had the OP acted as the respondent suggests, the OP could well have found himself responsible for a multiple vehicle collision with scope for injuries to persons the OP knows in real life and faces/cars he regularly sees and acknowledges on this commute route, even a minor collision would likely engender significant road blockage, none of which the OP would want. To engineer such a conversation the OP would have had to stop the driver in the carriageway, which is not an option for the above reasons, however polite the OP may have been. The OP has clearly described it as narrow and wind-y, an opinion backed up by a fellow rider already in this thread who is clearly well aware of this stretch and equally comfortable asserting their own safety against a rare case of motorised bully on roads that bear no resemblance to the guides busways of Cambridge.

How can I give multiple likes? This post is bang on. The respondent should acknowledge that the OP and myself are happy and confident with the environment we commute in without feeling the need to fight every challenger to prove superiority. We just want to get on with our lives.

All single track roads have passing places where 2 vehicles can safely pass each other whichever direction they are travelling.... otherwise there'ld be chaos.

We're there any passing points that the OP could utilise to avoid the bullying driver along the stretch were the incident took place?

It's not single track just narrow & wind-y.

large portions with no pavement and immediately adjacent brick walls & metal fences or a very steep long drop immediately off the kerb that you would be VERY lucky to survive or not be permanantly & seriously injured if you went off it in a car or bike.

So, so so spot on.

I now clearly see why another poster in this thread gets loads of sh1_t.

There is always someone on the internet who would have handled the situation better differently regardless of the nature of the road or traffic conditions. You are 'disadvantaged' by knowing what you are talking about on this thread, while others will speculate and misinterpret...
yeah edited that post to add a bit of context to the road.

True, I apologise for that...
