I want to cycle my canal but it's partly dirt and grass and some cycle path gravel stuff.

Would I be able to cycle on them using the tyre's? Or should I stick to the road?

While they're tough tyres, I'd stay off the unpaved surfaces when using them.

I already have some other tyres, but I don't want to be putting them on, taking them off, putting them on.... all the time.

I can't afford another set of wheels especially when I don't have a job.

There's quite a few things I want, like new clothes for cycling and a new bike, but I need to wait until I have an income.

I put a pair on my wife's Giant and they've worked fine on a mixture of surfaces. They are a nice wide tyre with decent puncture resistance. I was a bit worried initially on some of the gravel cycle paths but it was just me being over protective regarding her riding skills and I should have realised she was more than capable. They won't grip so well when the surface gets loose or slippy, but if you are happy you can handle the bike in those conditions, the tyres should work adequately in them. As you're talking about riding along a canal I think presuming relatively flat and no sharp turns is a fairly safe bet. The ideal option would be something different, but if that isn't an option for you, then the fact is you shouldn't be doing them any particular damage using them there.

I put some Cityjets on my Carerra Subway about 5 years ago and they've been great. I've been down canal towpaths a few times with them (around 20 miles or so each time). I usually run them at 85psi on the road but lower that slightly for rougher surfaces, towpaths, etc. probably down to 50-60psi. Mud guards are absolutely essential with them though - they seem to pick up a huge about of surface muck and grime, much more than mountain bike knobblies or skinny road tyres. I've only had one puncture since I got them too....
