Schwalbe Durano S v Conti GP4000s

New tyres needed to go on new Fulcrum Racing 7's but which one?
Both available for similar price.
Will be used for daily commuting and leisure rides in all weathers all year round.
Size has to be 23c to clear guards.
Have been using Schwalbe Stelvio for last 4500miles and been happy with them.
Average 5000-6000miles per year.
Puncture protection is important but not to the total detriment of enjoyment.
No experience of Conti tyres but Durano S supposedly superceded the Stelvio.

Thoughts please

Ive been using the Conti's for a while and have to say im impressed with them had no visits as yet and ridden them on some pretty crappy debris/pot hole strewn roads. They also have very good rolling road resistance imo. And being my first experience with folding tyres i found them nice and easy to fit and take off.

GP4000s are probably the most popular recommended tyre on internet forums and review sites however IME they are a bit too prone to punctures in the wet for a daily use / ride all weather tyre.

I have no experience of durano s

At Sigma Sport near me there even cheaper(£12.75), when the sales guy mentioned them i was dubias about them but i thought its a £25 gamble, and the next day i done a 90 mile sportive in mixed conditions and they never twitched once and i hit pot holes, gravel etc.
They feel slightly softer compound than contis but i like them, a lot.

For less than £30 it could be worth a punt.

IME they are a bit too prone to punctures in the wet for a daily use / ride all weather tyre.

In two years of all weather riding on gp4000s I've only had one 'visit' and that was glass into the side wall on a brand new tyre. I was gutted - the tyre was scrap. I should have been paying more attention to what was 'on' the road.
They don't seem to 'cut up' as much as other similar tyres either.

Big fan of the Conti's I run the 25c and find that they wear great.
I have found that they are fast, reliable and pretty punchure resistent.
As stated they just do not cut up as much as other tyres.

Found pair Conti GP Attack Force cheaper than pair GP4000s. I take it these are full on race tyres and will be great but only for a very low mileage?

The GP4000's and the Durano S's both got 5* in a recent magazine review. I think when you get to that level it's just down to dumb luck whether you get a visit of not and the rest is personal preference.

FYI: I use Durano S's but would be happy to give GP4000's a try on the next tyre change.

No, they are essentially the same compound and construction as far as I am aware, but the rear is 24mm and the front 22mm. Both have directional tread patterns.

Sales bumf for Durano S says its replacement for Stelvio so reasonably sure would be happy with them but lots recommendations for the gp4000s,,,
