schwalbe pressure gauge

Have just bought a shwalbe airmax pro digital pressure gauge as i wanted to make sure my 700cc tyres were at the right psi but after pumping and pumping and checking with the gauge i can't get a reading higher than 66psi yet the tyres feel rock hard.

Bought shwalbe because of there reputation but now thinking thats another thing going in the bottom drawer.

Anyone out there got this gauge?

Does it register other pressures, ie it records different pressures up to 66psi, but then no further?

What sort of pump are you using?

For not much more than you paid Halfrauds I got one of these. Just added some glue-less patches to put my order over £20 and get free P&P. I trust the gauge on it though I might check it on the MTB tyres with my car pressure gauge some day :becool:.

Yeah the gauge will record different changes.

If I pump up the tyre from flat it will pump up quite easy to about 60 psi after that there will be strong resistance on the handle.
Being the layman I am I thought a pump was a pump which doesn't seem the case

I suppose it's the old adage you get what you pay for.

Thanks fellas and any ideas on a decent pump?

Only bought the pump yesterday so i took it back to halfords and they refunded my money no problems.

I needed a pump pronto so why I was in there i picked up the joe blow sport with it's own gauge.

What a difference pumped it up to 120psi no sweat.

Checked the pressure with the schwalbe and it was still a different reading.

I will be going with the reading from the joe blow from now.

Glad you've got it sorted, but you should trust the Schwalbe and not the pump mounted gauge.

A pump mounted gauge measures the pressure in the connector between the pump and the inner-tube and not the pressure in the inner-tube itself: that's the whole point of a separate gauge.
