Hi Guys,

We have just been informed by Carbisdale Castle (SYHA) that we cannot stay there in July (Sat 2nd)due to extensive damage to the accomodation due to the recent winter storms!
They have offered us other places to stay but none of them are on our route! This is a major blow to our plans because we booked & paid many months ago!(they have offered us our money back)
Can anyone suggest anywhere for us to book into please? There are 14 of us  .We are staying in Newtonmore on the previous night (day 7)so need somewhere halfwayish between there & JoG.
Many thanks in anticipation,
Tony

I'm in the same situation: they suggested Tongue SYHA as an alternative, but I'm already doing 80 miles that day, and I didn't really fancy adding another 50 miles to it!

Sleeperzzz looks quite nifty (and cheap), but it's a bit of a detour from NCN 1. I've booked a room at Kyle House:

Their official website is quite limited, but the CTC page has more info. They are based in Bonar Bridge, so this is actually going to knock a few miles off my route.

Anyway, this may be useful to other people who were planning to go to Carbisdale.

I'm sure you will be OK there, it has been on the recommended list for a long time. There is a shop nearby and places for meals, also it's a pleasant place to wander around in the evening. There is an unusual geological 'ring' display in the picnic site across the river bridge.

Another accommodation possibility close to Carbisdale Castle is the Invershin Hotel where I stopped for a pint today.

They don't have a website, and many of the reviews on the 'net are out of date as the hotel changed hands a year ago,
'phone number is 01549 421202. The owner told me they will be opening a bunkhouse in the next few weeks at rates similar to the hostel across the river.

I have no connection with the hotel management, and can give no personal recommendation but just pass on this info to assist other cyclists.
