The region known as Scottish Borders; it's unlikely many in our "esteemed and equal alliance"* realise there is actually a region called this.

*or whatever the horseshite the unionists spouted was
I know - I was being deliberately obtuse.
I've actually been to both Berwick and Carlisle. Carlisle was perhaps not at its best in drizzly mid February, so it deserves another chance. Possibly via the Settle - Carlisle line.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

Geographically and historically the Scottish Borders is a region covering the bit of country near to the current boundary between us and our perfidious northern relatives. The "Scottish Borders" unitary authority (not "Region") dates from 1996.

Considering a certain Pan Am '747 crashed there a few years back, I am surprised more people haven't said Lockerbie.
