North Ayrshire - ONE gritter on that map, and it's away over near Dalry! Not one to be seen on the A78 between Ardrossan and Greenock.... Just about the norm for our council services . Glad I'm not heading for Campbeltown either....
I remember gritting your local roads in the early '70s from the back of a lorry, the Haylie Brae is no fun in a blizzard:laugh:

North Ayrshire apparently has 4 new gritters ("Ice Blaster", "Snowlaf", "Frostbite Frank" and “Grittinator”), part of a fleet of 14 gritters on the mainland and 3 on Arran. But the A78 and A737 are trunk roads, and not North Ayrshire’s responsibility - they’re gritted by Transserv.

I know the gritters have been out locally because I saw them; but I like to keep up my "miserable sid" persona on here .

Here in South Lanarkshire we have the invisible gritters  but I feel for the "Glaswegians" up the hill from me, at the first sight of snow no buses for them and there are no train stations either.
Rutherglen (SL) is less than 3 miles from Glasgow Green: I saw the gritter turning back after the "you are now leaving Glasgow" sign!
