I'm in the market for a trike for my good lady who's balance isn't the best but would like to get back out there.

We're very much at the budget end of the market here, and have found a second hand Scout on Marketplace which from what I can tell is barely used and has been kept if not inside then at least undercover.

It's this one, as far as I can tell, and the seller is asking for £100 which seems good to me:

I'm aware that it'll be weighty and doesn't need front suspension, and as she'll be viewing it solo I've said to ask to ride it round the block and make sure the gears all work and the brakes actually function, as well as checking the seat post isn't seized.

Beyond that is there anything else to consider? The drivetrain looks pretty standard to me, but is there anything weird and wonderful to look out for which could prove to be a PITA to sort?

Viewed an older version of the same model today, with a non suspension fork, which appeals to me. Seller is after £180 which seems steep to me, so unless there's something seriously wrong with the cheaper one that's probably the way we'll go.

Although you can get a brand new one for £200 (with cosmetic scuffs), which might also be worth considering.
