So there I was feeling smug with myself with the endless scalps knocking on 22mph into a headwind feeling I had the power of Thor in my legs when I got blown away by a fellow commuter  . Tried in vain to keep up whilst giving the impression I wasn't bothered, but to no avail :surrender:. Bravo sir.

At my age I really should know better.

I have sat behind someone feeling I can easily overtake, pull out and do the deed to only be reminded of the headwind and pedal 'til my legs felt they were going to explode. Quite gutting when you hit that redlight and all you made was a minute or less.

I ride past a Range Rover dealer and I am always amazed at how many Secondhand ones are on display and the prices are out of this world. People pay big money to look like a twonk

I went out for a quick 20 miler the other night, during which a female mountain biker joined the road in front of me. I pulled out to overtake, only for her to quickly get up to about 22mph. Vanity forbade me from abandoning the overtake, so I just powered down and went past, uttering a quck 'Good evening' to her as nonchalantly as possible, whilst thinking 'please turn off this road, I can't keep this up for long."
