I feel very sorry for him, worked hard all his life and ends up with some moron doing this.

Some scumbag did that to my dad when he was in his late fifties and he never cycled again.

Some half-brain tried to do it to me last year; luckily I pinged him in my mirror first so took evasive action.
Got the van reg. and his handsome features on my camera; so if I had hit the deck an assault charge would have been in order!

Hope the old dude in the article makes a full recovery and gets back on the bike..

There was a spate of this in my area (Bucks / Oxfordshire) a few years back, but usually it took place out of town.

Looking at where this happened you just have to hope there were some witnesses. Good luck to Mr. Myers; Let's just hope his confidence isn't ruined by it all.

Now that digital cameras are becoming cheap as chips the idea of a rear facing one on the seatpost would be a good idea. Not only would you have the reg number of anyone who did this but their approach, intent and actions would be clearly visible as evidence.
