He also had a serious accident in 2018 (?) - he was impaled on a tree branch and needed major surgery for that!

Yes I remember that . But on the balance of probability riding for Armstrongs Motorola team in the 90s is more likely to give you long lastingly health problems than falling on a tree. ( I cannot seem to find any information on his latest setback/ problem , so I will say no more on this subject)

I think he was doing tree surgery when it happened! (He was using a chainsaw but slipped and fell.)

Not seen anything else, but his post did show a lot of chest patches, wires etc. and a big scar up the middle. He has had some heart trouble.

Heart valve issues. Some damage caused when he had a pacemaker removed and then his other valve was faulty. Long recovery.
