I realised in reverse, if you know what i mean...i always LOVED the sun and summer, LOVED the first feeling of that warmth on your back in spring, it gives me such a high, almost like being reborn.
On the other side of the scale, i always feel 'flat' in winter, can't get going, lose a lot of interest, hate the greyness of everthing, the lack of colour in the countryside.
And having read an article last night, it highlighted something else i hadn't realised, but's true...sufferers often love to be outdoors, me to a tee.
And that in turn made me realise...i spend nearly all day indoors at work, in a workshop with no windows. Hardly ideal eh !
The wife got me a 'happy lamp' :biggrin: last year...didn't really use it that much, didn't get into the habit. It's coming out soon...a guy i know swears by his.

It gets to the point you hate the thought of the end of summer and the onset of autumn/winter.
Ironically i know people (i'm sure we all do) that love the winter and hate summer :wacko:
Anyone out there feel the same ? Any tips ? I often try to shake myself out of it...but it always comes back.

I reconcile myself to the fact, summer soon seems to be over....i always think, well winter will be as well, here's looking forward to next summer :tongue:

I'm a winter lover myself, summer time I hate, but thats just me  :biggrin:
 
my depression starts earlier and earlier... now it kicks in before the solstice. spring is about the only time i'm not feeling really low, but once june hits, then that's it, the year is over.

i'm looking at my python's viv, with a constant 32 degrees and figuring i can fit in it.

I suffer from S.A.D. and use a light box to zap myself at this time of year. It definitely helps me.

Making the most of any good weather and getting out at lunchtime is a good idea. I'm lucky in that I work from home so I can turn the PC off and go out for a couple of hours if I want to, and then catch up in the evening when it's cold and dark and I'd be indoors anyway.

I'm kept sane in the winter by the misses and the cycling.

I find I don't have SAD as such, but rather find it very difficult to wake up now that it's dark in the mornings. I've been racing to get to work for the last couple weeks.

Thats exactly the same lamp i have...bloomin bright.

There's logic in that...sunlight creates Melatonin (sp) in your body, which helps wake you up. Less sunlight, less melatonin, more difficulty in waking up.

I believe. Not got a lamp but do try to get some natural light when I can. Might sound odd but my eyes feel hungry for it as we're coming towards the end of winter.

Still love winter. Up to a point.

Wow, didn't think it was so prevalent.

One of my old MDs suffered from it. We worked from a converted barn at his house and some mornings in the winter he couldn't even get out of bed because of how low he was. And this was a man who was generally a workaholic.

I can imagine that it's something that a lot of people don't take seriously.
 
Dayvo is a 'Saddo' (sorry - in the best possible way, but afflicted with this disorder, worjking in Sweden must be a bind...)

Maybe WE are ALL affected by this and would be better off for extra artificial brightness at certain times. My circumstances have changed and I positively yearn to be under the sky, in the light - at all times. Once upon a time I would sit and watch the night fall..and the dawn break.
Others I know despise the extra lux and are happy in subdued light... :headshake:
