After removing my seatpost to clear some grit that was causing it to creak, I overtightened the clamp bolt and it sheared. I just so happened to have a spare clamp, but no matter how tight I dare get it, the seatpost slips down half-an-inch over a 30 minute ride. I'd just swap the bolt over and use the old clamp again, but it's a different size.

Can anyone recommend a good 31.8 seatpost clamp that will avoid any slippage? I've seen a chunky Surly Constrictor on Wiggle that sounds the ticket - anyone use & recommend that?

I had the same problem and ended up with a Salsa Flip lock - it's not the cheapest but it grips like a goodun. If you're not after a QR on then the Lip lock is the hex bolt version.

Thanks - none of them match the size I need (31.8mm) though :-(
32mm will be fine - Salsa spec them by the size off the hole in the clamp rather than the size of the tube they fit. You need a bit of clearance for them. The 35mm clamp is a perfect fit on my 34.9mm seat tube.

I tried the carbon assembly paste first. It was a waste of money - my the post is a close fit in the tube so when I slide the post down it 'squeegeed' all the gritty bits up the post and off the contact surface.
