seat post maintenance

on my old steel bike i used to copper grease the seat post to aid none sticking. the new bike as a carbon post(giant defy bike). does the seat post need any lube?

Yes, it needs some carbon assembly paste putting on it to avoid it slipping as you can not torque the bolts down as tight on carbon.

Not really no, sorry! I would say probably the cheapest, but I am not certain so.....

i would recommend Tacx - you can buy small sachets or a tube - whether it does it better than other pastes, I cannot say but it does the job. it contains a very fine grit, a bit like tooth paste, wouldn't surprise me if a get type toothpaste would do the same job at a tiny fraction of the price.

Yup, fit an alu seatpost and eliminate the problem completely

I have Finish Line Fiber[sic] Grip for my seat post. 2 seatpost removals a year and the tube looks like it will last another 30+ years.
I'd go for the little sachets that 02GF74 mentions

oh bugger. I've never put any paste compound on my seat post before.
