Full respect to him for not simply sitting back and trading on his name as a cycling athlete unlike others. He's decided to make his way in a new profession and I applaud him for that.

My thoughts as well, but he will always be "the tdf winner" and because of his fame wont get the chance to learn the ropes from the bottom. Neither will he be able to take a top job without experience. He will have to find that unique niche that fits him.

I like having two parallel occupations.
Makes life more interesting

Plus if one career breaks, I've always got a spare

Fully qualified in all three trades I have done in my life time: production engineer, driving instructor and F.E teacher.
No more for me.

Finished as a soldier, bummed around d a few months and then started a second career as a copper. Did a.little BG'ing in the middle of it all. Now I'm well into my new career as a navel gazer.

He will probably end up being an ambassador for the open university. Wonder how long it'll take to complete and whether it is undergrad or a conversion.
