Seven miles out on the cycle path this morning a combination of a wet track too much speed and a cattle grid,(what was i thinking of when i seen that coming ??) good job i cleared the grid and hit the tarmac that could have been really nasty, anyway some positives on my slow ride home,
1.Get a good pair of gloves, some nasty little cuts on my hands that would not stop bleeding.
2.carry a few plasters.
3.More concentration,especially in the wet.
4.Another set of wheels with full wet lyres, not that they would of helped on the grid.!
5.Get some elbow protection ??
6.My Chinese carbon handle bars, stem, seat and seat post where totally unscathed.
Now a good inspection of the bike, ouch !!!

Ouch!

Definitely 1 (gloves). A month ago I had a 20 year on a BSO crash on outside my house and I heard a crash/cry in the garden. His hands were shot (me and a neighbour got his hands a bike cleaned up a bit) and he was due to start his teacher placement the following week. He and his mum brought round a bottle of wine the following night , but his hands were cut up.

That's a very sensible idea and one I think I'll take up. Even a slight scuff to the flesh can sting like hell till you get it covered and a couple of Band Aids take up no room in a pocket or seat pack.
