So I pulled all the seat posts from every bike in the stable towards the end of last year, but couldn't believe it when I finally went to do the Genesis (obviously the workhorse in the stable) and the seat post was already seized. I wasn't looking forward to wrestling with it so kind of forgot about it but planned to take it through to Stirling to a guy who specialises in these things. Anyway, I was fettling something else on the bike today, and I found some plus gas in the back of a cupboard, so I thought I would stick the steed in the vice and see how I got on, and voila. My question is though, should I replace my seat post or would I be OK with cleaning and greasing the original?

Started young, and still going.

Barnet,
Clean and grease the seat post, and clean inside of the seat tube as far as you can. It'll be fine.

Brilliant.
I cleaned inside the frame with the brush in the picture but I'm sure there is a bit more to do. I thought about taking some emery paper over the seat post and maybe coating it with some spray pain, but I'll clean it as best I can with a scouring pad and grease her up for the season ahead. :okay:
