Wife grilling bacon for a nice sarnie and to get to said bacon from the fridge, took a cheese platter I'd bought this week - it had a use by date of 27th Dec.

It's freakin' cheese for gods sake!!!

Gave me the idea of adding a layer of French Goats cheese Over the bacon then 10 seconds in the microwave to fully melt the cheese over the bacon, yum yum

I got some cheese from a local farmers market a couple of weeks back. I was talking to the guy about it. When he sells a lump of cheese he has to put a label on it with a best before date four weeks on. This is meaningless as he's already had it in his cellar for two years, and the cheese next to it on the shelf will be there for another 12 months.

Goats cheese??!! It's made from scraping the crust from a goat's bottom you know...

Now, if you had said blue cheese on a bacon sarnie that's a completely differernt matter :hungry:

On a bottle of mineral water...

Deep in ancient limestone, in the heart of the Peak District, nature works its patient and wonderful magic over thousands of years.Rainfall from over 5,000 years ago is forced up through 1,500 metres of ancient British bedrock to emerge crisp and delicious at source at St Pauls Spring. It's a long and arduous journey that has made Mineral Water one of the purest natural mineral waters in Europe. Use by Feb 2014.

I actually know the reason for this.

It's not the water that degrades, but the plastic bottle!

Not strictly true, as the cheese within his cellar will be a whole cheese and it will be protected; once a cheese is cut it is no longer afforded such protection and therefore there is a time limit to it being "good". This will vary according to what types of cheese it is, and what type of milk is used.

So, nehr...:boxing:
