Start-up forums abound on t'web. Started for all sorts of reasons and all sorts of themes, I reckon there must be a new one created every few minutes.
Some of them take off rippingly, others curl up and die. I've watched both happen in recent months, in my alter ego as an astronomer. The successful one, started only in July with a handful of invitees, is doing really nicely thanks! with nearly 120 members, some of them real heavyweights (I could name names but only one of them'll be really familiar to you
) and over 7,000 posts. The other one....
If Bonj (assuming it is Bonj) wants to really make a go of it, he needs to work hard at what he's set up. Have a definite mission and purpose to it maybe, win over a few friends (I won't make the obvious snide comment here!) and give people a good reason for staying, and for taking the trouble to post on it. All I can say is: good luck to him/them...!

it's hard to make a forum exactly what you want as there's no accounting for what people will/won't post (i mean look at this place 
).
it's a difficult balance to find; if you err too much on the side of the iron rod, your forum ends up an empty shell when someone starts up elsewhere and takes the membership with them (see acf/yacf). ignoring the memberships' opinions is also a pitfall, that's why a large number of c+ users migrated to cycle chat.
hopefully bonj (if it's him) will see for himself how 'rewarding' it is to run an internet forum, and might respect this place a little more as a result. if he can succeed with it, chapeau…

As I recall, it took a while for CC to get going! And even then it wasn't until the great C+ migration that numbers really swelled!
I'd like to think that the serious cycling forum (should it survive) will have a different feel to CC so hopefully any people here that might register there will treat them as different, rather than just as an extension.
