Decided that my lovely Brommy needed a service, so off to my LBS. He said yes, not a problem, but I'd need to get any specific parts. So bought chainring, chain and rear sprocket, as I knew they were well worn, costing £65. Service done, charged me £77 including replacment cables and freeing off a seized rear brake caliper. Thus, total cost to me was £142. :okay:
Out of curiosity, I dropped into the Brompton dealer / agent ( a well known national company ) and asked the price of a service; £175 plus parts. So from them, the service would have been at least £240 plus the cost of the cables.
So I saved a wad of money and supported my LBS; result - ! :okay:

I always take my Brompton to my LBS. The alternative is a 2 hour drive in Denmark or a 3 hour drive into Germany. The LBS are reasonable and I save the time and fuel.

My LBS charged me £80ish a few months ago for a service, new sprockets and a new chain. I could have done in myself but I really appreciate them and their advice so I do not mind sending it there for work.
