I'm watching Strictly tonight just to hear Len say Sevverrrnnn!!. Does the number 7 have any significance to any of you. I'm more of an 8 man myself although 7 is a nice odd number but 7 has no real significance for me and prefer a 5 or a 10

I find 29 an appealing number. If it has to be less than 10 then yes 7.

That river has got just too much time on its hands, it should get a move on and generate some electricity or drive a mill wheel or ......well, anything really.

Not so - I'm sure I remember something similar to this leading to an "Ox bow lake" Not sure if I've got the spelling right, but this was definitely a geographical feature of some GCSE module I did.

Yes, oxbow lakes are formed when a river breaks through the neck of a meander. The Aussies call them billabongs.

Ah, but there is a difference between the usual U-shaped "oxbow lake" (the clue is in the name, an oxbow is the harness which goes over the neck of draft animals) and the image of the Severn which Pete posted, which is closer to a full-scale map of the Nurburgring.
