Does anyone know if it is possible to buy the sachets of brand shampoo that you get in glossy magazines?
I have been saving mine for a trip at the end of the year, but still nowhere near enough.

I have very long hair and though I can plait it up for a couple of days, a 3 week trip neccessitates some washing - and bringing more bottles takes up so much space in what will already be crammed panniers.

Would something like this do? http://www.google.co.uk/products/ca...a=X&ei=eg9aTpa-FIWy8QPq-6y3DA&ved=0CG8Q8wIwAg

Love that you've been collecting those sachets, very enterprising. You can buy them...b&b owners buy them for their rooms, so you can too... not sure where, but you can use google yourself.

But why not just pour enough shampoo for your trip into a smaller container or a strong sandwich bag.

Or just make space for a bottle (hardly the largest thing) in your panniers. if you leave behind the make up bag, hair straighteners, going-out-heels, and hair-drier you'll soon have room.

Having a lot of hair, I'll use more than a bottle in a month!

Thanks to those suggesting eBay, and googling has provided me witha sample shop.

I've consulted the oracle on this. The answer is simplicity itself. On arrival in any town of size or character, simply go to the hairdressers for a wash and blow dry.

Now I come to think of it, our longest jaunt to date (three days) was interrupted by a visit to the hairdressers. In Essex. The result was bouffantastic!

I can't tell you how much I look forward to our forthcoming tour of the Cote D'Azur.

Decant some of your normal shampoo into one of these Go Toobs. They are more reliably non-leaky than your average small bottle.

Go and shake the freebies out of all the magazines you can find in the shops...

Have you considered solid shampoo as sold by Lush ?

I take a bar with me and use it as a shower soap as well as shampoo. Lush also sell neat tins to fit the bars in.

A neat solution.

You could also consider just taking a shampoo bottle with you and leaving other stuff at home to save space..

Shampoo is handy for:

Washing your hair (really?)
Washing yourself instead of using shower gel or soap.
Washing your cloths.
Washing your towel (stops it getting smelly ;))
Washing dishes.
Lubricating your rims so the tire pops back on easier and in the right shape.
Mix with a little water to hunt for punctures.

And many many more things.....

Multi functional all in one bottle that does more than it says on the tin....

I have very long hair and though I can plait it up for a couple of days,

As the father of three teenage girls (actually two now in twenties!), a partner and a 9 yr old stepdaughter I can tell you that long hair needs TONS of shampoo. So the suggestions of small bottles will not work!

Sounds like lots of sachets will help.

In which case a couple of bars of solid shampoo from Lush should do the job.
