I can't work out what evolutionary advantage we gained by having this bloody stuff sprouting out of our faces on a daily basis. It's bonkers, and extremely irritating.
Have you watched the naked dating programme on Channel 4. It seems the latest fashion for young hipsters is a full face beard but totally shave privates. It looks completely stupid.
But hey ho what do I know.

Annoyingly, I find the Gillette blades work really well for me, but they are expensive and like somebody said upthread, every time you have to buy them it's through gritted teeth because they are expensive.

I have tried other makes in the past including King of Shaves, Wilkinson Sword and safety razors, but none of them work as well for me and I always end up back with Gillette.

I got given some shaving oil a year or so ago and now find that a bit of oil on before you put the gel or cream on really improves the shave.

Barbers and other experts will talk about how the bristles of the brush exfoliate the skin and lift the stubble away from it to allow a closer shave. I have no idea whether or not that's true but for me I like to use a brush as you can produce a nice thick, creamy lather which allows the razor to glide smoothly and you will also find you use less soap/cream when using a brush.

What's your brush made of: aluminium, steel, titanium, carbon?

I'm with you on that. I don't buy the expers advise either. I have quite a few brushes and I use them on a ratotation.... so it must be the luck of the draw I guess

I just go for a soft brush that feels luxurious on the face.

Just been down to Lidl and the Shark blades are almost identical to the Harry's ones, only £3.79 for four compared to £2 each at Harry's.

Back when I did shave I found electric razors didn't do a brilliant job.
They still don't, but they're enough to keep wiry face hair from shredding food, partners, pillows and so on, so they serve a purpose and don't require a farking subscription service to keep them emptied out and dribbled with oil.

The same folk who buy coffee pods i think. The companies behind both share the details of purchasers/marks. There are also breaking market rumours that they are going to leverage this very valuable list to launch a toilet roll subs service. A special app will track your diet, including fibre intake, to ensure just in time delivery of your new roll.

Thanks for that info. Do you recommend any particular cream/soap or whatever? Have wondered about using such a system when touring/camping but maybe I have illusions about coming across as one of those macho types from old westerns.
