pulled this thing out of my brother in laws shed today. an old style steel framed MTB.

soon had it striped down to this and i now have another pile of spare bits.

0007002.jpg

but the real reason i wanted it was to help finish off this...

0007003.jpg

chain, handle bars and shifters meant i could get this up and working....

the old style friction shifters work real well, no messing around with indexing. so i decided to use the bike as a winter commuter.

0007005.jpg

started swapping over the bits from my commute bike...

so now this...

0007007.jpg

can go back into this mode...

and be used as my winter weekend bike so that the lovely boardman can go into hibernation till next year :becool:

I love bikes like this. Much more interesting than that dull as ditchwater Boardman thing.

wow - like the game with three cups and the ball, BUT WITH BIKES.

where are the components now?

I DON'T KNOW!

/weeps

Nice job though.

That Steel MTB might make a decent bike for trailer pulling, of converting into a Cargo bike, you know.

Those friction shifters are great converted my 7 speed winter bike to 9 speed with them ...so versatile.
