Sheffield Council/free Hi Viz Jacket

On my commute through Sheffield this morning, I came to a junction which is generally quite busy with cyclists. As I approach I see a Policeman with his MTB and several other people in Hi-viz jackets stood around. As I approach, one of the blokes asks if I want a free jacket. Thought this was a great idea run by Sheffield City COuncil and PedalReady who provide CTC approved cycle training.

I did also notice that they are giving away free Hi-Viz jackets in Sheffield Libraries. Nice to see the Council promoting cycling.

I'm up in Sheff at the weekend. Are they giving them away at all libraries? Nearest one to me would be Highfield.

It was where the London Road goes across St Mary's Gate. They were asking cyclists as they approached the end of the cycle lane that meets South Lane.

As far as I'm aware, it was Ecclesall, Central and Ecclesfield(?) libraries. Worth asking at the others though.

When they launched the LUAS tram in Dublin the operator gave some out and IMO they were good quality; I hope the operator of the Edinburgh Tram will do likewise.

Yes, I got one. Although they only had extra large left. I've tried it on and it is huge!! I'm by no means small but as I suppose it's better than not being seen. Oh, and it says something about Zero Emissions across the back. I'll have a bag on my back so at least you won't see that bit.

I think they are giving them out as last time when they decided to give them out at just libraries there were some complaints (rightly so I think). Last time they were pretty much restricted to giving out XL so the sizing thing hasn't changed either. Surprised they are doing another run so quickly.
