Shifting Problems

I have a problem which is driving me mad. I recently replaced my rear wheel for a new one which meant replacing the freewheel. Since then I've had problems shifting through the middle gears. I've adjusted the barrel to tighten or slacken the cable but no luck. When it won't shift up I adjust the cable tension slightly, I then have problems shifting back down. The chain, freewheel and derailleur are around a year old. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just did exactly that, outer and inner. Bit of a pain to get the shifting moving smoothly but hopefully all sorted now.
