I recently changed my old Shimano PD-M505 SPD pedals for a new pair of PD-A530. The old pedals came with the bike and were fitted with SM-PD22 clip-on platform adapters which I used for a couple of years before going clipless. I chose the A530 because I wanted to keep the option of cycling in ordinary shoes. They are also lighter then my old pedals, so my bike is now a few grams lighter, if only I was a few kg lighter.

First impressions, they are a good strong pedals, on the bike they feel really smooth. I find clipping in takes a wee bit more force than the old pedals but clipping out is easier and smoother (am using the same old cleats).

If you are looking for a single sided SPD pedal for commuting or touring, then these are well worth looking at.
