Shimano Shoe studs - removal

I have a shiny new pair of Shimano MTB cycling shoes.

They have two studs on the bottom that I don't really need as I'm not trekking through mud in them.

I assume these screw in like football boot studs? Is there a tool available to fit these? Are 'blank' studs available?

I don't really want to get the mole grips out on my shiny new shoes!

yes there is a tool. if they are similar to what I have seen you are more likely to get it from a sports shop. Normally i have got blanks with the shoes. try one of the big online shops if your LBS cant help.
