Shimano Sora shifters to 105 brakes - compatability advice needed

Hi,

I am looking to step-by-step upgrade my Giant SCR3 to 105 stock.
I have Sora Flightdeck shifters on 9-speed triple with mixed Deora and Tiagra train, and wanted to start with the 105 brakes and rear Mech - 5600's.
The Shimano techdoc drivetrain compatibility chart says no but I wanted to upgrade these two before having to splash out on the 105 shifters starting at abt £135.

So, do any of you techs out there know if I'll have any serious issues using the 105 brakes with Sora flightdeck until I can aford the 105's?

I think the 105 rear mech (5600) is a 10 speed whilst your Sora shifters are 9 speed which is probably the reason they are flagged as imcompatible. Not sure on the brakes but I suspect they would be ok but you should wait until someone more knowledgable comments on this site.

I could be wrong but I think the only incompatibility is on the gear side on the brake side (what you are wanting) there's no incompatibility the sti just has to pull an entire brake cable and not individual lengths relating to the speed of a cassette.
