Just about to treat myself to a new Dawes Galaxy Ultra to replace my current tourer via the CTW scheme.:hyper:

Want to lower the gearing in order to be able to drag a fully loaded bike and my over weigh carcass up those bigger hills. Chainset on my current tourer is Shimano Deore 44/32/22 and this works well for me.

The standard chainset on the Ultra is the Sugino RD-5000T 48/38/28.

Looking at the Shimano M770 XT chainset as a potential replacement/upgrade.

Is this a good investment? I know Sugino are a good make, but couldn't find an equivalent geared chainset from them.

All help and advice gratefully received!

Here for rides.
Double check the front mech will shift on the smaller rings

Why not keep the cranks and just change the rings?
