Hi got some spd sl shoes and pedals and managed to eat Tarmac within 10 mins..

Decided that clip in is not for me..

So can I convert the shoes to normal or can anyone recommend a good non clip in shoe and pedal

You just need some settling in time. Whilst cycling on quiet roads, practice clipping in and out as your move too. You'll have the hang of it by the end of the day :-)

Better still - if your pride/confidence has taken a hit try this -

Get your bike in the house & lean it & yourself against a wall - living room is good (while watching the Tour of Catalunya maybe) -
Then just practice flicking your foot out & clipping back in -

No prying eyes - no sniggering - no shame in this at all - done it myself - worth the effort.

As,others have said. Give it time, it'll soon be second nature and you'll start reaping the benefit. It'll be worth it.

to be fair wanted cycling to be enjoyable and my bike is mint eating tarmac and trashing the bike is not for me so could anyone point me in the direction of shoes etc. I rode a 117 mile ride last year in trainers and was quite happy they are just a bit wide
