Sunny? Are we in the same London?

I was on automatic pilot this morning and just got dressed as usual. I was far too hot and need to lose a layer for the ride home.
Luckily I wear shorts underneath the longs, so my legs may get the first airing of the year tonight even if it is raining

Came out by default in the winter gear without thinking and completely overheated on the way, totally drenched by the time i got in. Yes must have been 12C. The shorts wouldn't have been so bad an idea (cept for the blinding white legs this time of year).

For me it was 3/4 longs, spring knee warmers, L/S compression top & jersey this morning. A little overdressed on top but perfect for my legs.

Seems like a lot of people don't want their knees to be functioning properly latter in life, it's definitely mild but about 5-10C to cool for shorts imo. Shorts come out when the temps are approaching 20C, below that even if your legs feel find you can be putting extra stress on your knee. I find it interesting looking at the temperature rating for my summer shorts & 3/4 longs; the 3/4 longs have a temp range of 15-25C the shorts >18C.

I'm not sure about the knees bit. Footballers run around in shorts all year round. And after about a mile, my knees felt warm.

Running puts a very high load on your knees over a limited range of motion, cycling puts a highish load on your knee through a wide range of motion. The latter requires your knees to be in a much more supple state to avoid damage.

Shorts at 12c - I wouldn't want to be your knees !

The thermometer said shorts, the calendar said January! I decided to risk it (and take leg warmers for the ride home at midnight). The jacket was unzipped half-a-mile in; my glasses kept steaming up and I was definitely sweaty by the time I got to work. It was like Bridlington on August bank holiday.

We'll have some more of this please.

no leg warmers on the commute home tonight.
It was peeing with rain but very mild. Was a bit hot in the rain jacket..

However thanks to my Sealskinz socks I had nice and dry toasty toes...

Shorts and fingerless gloves on this morning. Head out of front door. Back inside again, and wet weather trousers on.

Oh well, perhaps next week.
