My work, and stay, in Copenhagen looks as if it will draw to a close at the end of next month, if not sooner.

I now sport a Danish wristwatch, Arne Jacobsen, donchano, but wonder if I should memorialise my 'happy times' from the Summer of 2015 with that iconic piece of cycling whatthefark-ery that is a Pedersenbicycle?

Would I ever ride it in the UK?
Can I fake the air of insouciance needed to carry off shopping trips on such a machine back home?
Will people think I am some sort of gentleman as a result of owning such a stead?
-and-
What spec should I go for from the choices on offer here?

There was one on the ferry coming back from The Hoek last weekend. I know someone who has got one, she keeps it for vintage rallys and the likes of the Tweed Run.

I feel I must point out that here, in Copenhagen, they are just ordinary bikes, albeit relatively expensive ordinary bikes, ridden by ordinary people, wearing ordinary clothes, to do ordinary things. As such, well, they are as common as other high-end, expensive, bikes, which is to say not common but certainly something you will see every day.

You could buy a used Pedersen. That way you are recycling/reusing, ie. making the planet a better place for the children. How could you not do that?! We need this Grumpy.

How about this Pedersen for £50
OK that one needs some tlc. But there are others http://www.dba.dk/cykler/?soeg=pedersen
I have to pass on the saving the planet angle. Sorry, but I commute by jet aircraft....

I don't know about Oslo but decent s/hand high-end bikes don't really seem to get advertised in cph. The preferred form is to chain the bike to a lamppost with a bit of cardboard taped to the top tube with a price and your mobile on it and within a day or two it will be sold. At worse you advertise it on the notice board where you work, or use your office and family/friends grapevine, or put a card in the bike shop window.

I've looked at two secondhand Pedersen's in five months. Junk in both instances. Most significant problem from my perspective is that the vast majority of Pedersens ridden hereabouts are geared for Copenhagen, fancake plat, where the steepest climb in town is the Cycle Snake, and thus would be unsuitable for the sort of use I have in mind back in the UK.
