As long as I breathe, I attack.
I have been filming my commutes using 2 md 80 clones , one for each way .

Lately i have not been bothering to film my commutes as i have found the battery life deteriorates and only just manages 35 minutes or so on a full charge which just about covers my commute and the endless recharge/wipe video routine.

I like the idea of videoing my commutes but find it a bit of a bind atm.

Should i just get my finger out and get on with it or what?

Why are you videoing? If you have good reason to video then yes, continue. If you feel that videoing interferes with you enjoyment of cycling and you don't think there is much benefit to the filming, then pack it in. I think you have to answer this question youreslf. Only you know if you think it is worthwhile.

There are easier to use cameras of course, it just depends on your willingness to spend the money.

I agree, it can be a churn. It's a shame they dont make a video recorder with a cyclic buffer, so you never have to delete. My batteries on my ACT3000 last for a few hours on a single charge, so thats not too much of an issue.

Umm, err, I think my camera does that (the cyclic recording - HQR2). I'm pretty sure that bentmikey's does it to (POV 1).

I've toyed with the idea, but most of the videos that i've seen are pretty much the same; close passes, left hooks, right hooks.

Unless you're compiling a safety film or want evidence in the event of a serious injury who really cares about it ? We can tut and condemn all we like on here but we're preaching to the converted.

Mags i'm aware that you've had some successes in educating companies , but you're probably a bit more erm, "driven" than most ;)

I've not filmed my rides in months and struggled to remeber where my Muvi was (in the office, at home someplace), so I know where you're coming from. I see it as a good thing as, I've not had anything that I need to keep on video (ie any nasty issues).

That said, I am considering using the cam for a different purpose (as apposed to just a black box recorder), so it may still be of use

Well at least I have sweet memories of my worst two misses in years....

Im doing quite well really...(touchwood) I've got through two...one where the battery gave up and the clone which I dropped...still using the original two of four.

Trouble is is it's filling up my computer hard drive so im going to have to get somewhere to store them on at a guess.....oops I know where I have a spare drive...

I like posting videos of interesting stuff I see, naughty cyclists, dangerous car drivers, dozey peds, commuter racing, high speed cycling etc... I'm looking at doing some off road stuff soon as well.

I know where you are coming from though, I sometimes find it a pain to charge tr batteries and on occasions have gone out without the camera because I forgot. On put it on but then not record.

I've not used mine for a while either. I've not done any commuting since last year and most of the rides have been day ones where I'm generally not cycling in rush hour and out for 6+ hours so battery wouldn't last anyway.

Do wish I had it today. We were waiting for some people, so had pulled off the road into this little bit of drive before a big electric gate into some massive posh property with grounds. We hadn't stopped for a leak or anything, but some women who lived their came out and starts fussing that we're on private property and makes us stand on the road (narrow country lane). We politely told her where to go as we weren't causing any problems. Was quite funny, but I guess you'd either need a film or to have been there.

I wonder if anyone with the MD80 (particularly the clone) have tested the VOX feature. I find my MD80 will switch itself off randomly within about 20 minutes of being in VOX. The battery is fully charged and if I switch it back on and record on normal it gives lots more battery life. I understand it should last 6 hours whilst "listening".

Doesn't matter if I activate (with sound) or not. Sometimes it will make one '2 minute' recordings other times 4 or 5. Totally random.

Have tried a reformat - no difference. Have seen reference to one other person with similar (on youtube I think) but no answers?

The short answer is, don't use VOX

Of my two clones one, after a two hour charge, will record for almost an hour and a half and the other one maybe forty-five minutes. They have been that way for months and I use the same charge routine every work day. I have them on timer sockets to charge for two hours just before I need them.

Well...my Veho Muvi Micro is still working, charging, etc, just fine  You can get it for just £44 from Amazon and another tenner for the sports pack. Hardly expensive - the price has dropped a lot since it was first introduced!

Probably helped by the fact that there are now a few other versions of it.
