right, its bleddy 'ot down ere and i's be strugglin'

Basically im a slightly overweight hairy bloke and last night, whilst wearing shorts and tshirt, had to fix a sink which had me sweating like a pig! on the bike its not too bad as the wind is a refreshng relief but as soon as i stop i'll be filling up buckets.

Now ive been touting a beard for the last 4 months and apart from making me look ruggedly handsome i dont think its doing much for me, plus my hair hasnt been cut in a short while (ok 6 months at leat) and my legs have never seen a razor/wax/epilator.

would i see any benefit to my temperature if i was to shave it all off or would i just look like a pillock. the other option is to do the Macmillan style or shave thing which could be interesting but cant access the website at work so cant really get more info on it.

you probably would be cooler but i think you wouldn't notice much. i was reading in cycling weekly last year i think and paracetamol is meant to thin bloods and keep you cooler on hot rides. i have never tried this and tbh can't really see it making that much of an improvement. drinking plenty of water helps keep you cool both before a ride and during. other than that there is only one other way round it I'm afraid and that is to cycle slowly lol

Don't do it! You'll get all bristly very shortly and have to keep doing it and it will be a total bore.

I have long hair (on my head!) and tie it up in hot weather as I find it too warm on my neck in this heat.

Also tbh some people are just sweatier than others. I think the further north your ancestry, the more buckets. Mr G has Irish blood and I just avoid him if he's playing sport. My strawberry-blonde friend with Celtic ancestry is quite a picture when playing tennis in a grey dress. It doesn't make me love them less! - but I wouldn't like Mr G to shave, he's be all bristly again in no time *shudders*.

Ginger, you mean?
Yeah, you know what I mean - very very light ginger, gold-coloured hair, very fair skin, inclined to burn rather easily, more so I think than if you are more auburn-coloured.

You mean me! Though I'm not in the really white skin, but I'm between fair haired and strawberry blond, and nowhere near ginger!! With tons of freckles! My main problem other than burning is that I can go really red when I exercise.

Yes, so does my chum! And Mr G goes a rather dangerous shade of crimson at this time of year under exertion.

I do blame my dad for my water release issues, hes part greek cypriot and part kiwi so not north at all!!

My wife hates it when i shave properly, normally have a bit of a rough goatee going on but may do the Style or shave thing anyway for a laugh and to raise money.

I've no knowledge of Maori sweat patterns alas! - although there's a lot of Celtic immigrant blood in NZ, isn't there, maybe there's a Scot or a Welshman lurking in your family tree.

The raising money thing sounds a laugh but I wouldn't go further than the face! (and then grow it back...)
