Should I install updates to my Moto?

I've just received a message inviting me to update my Moto G 1st gen - to 'bring important security improvements to your phone'. Generally I'm very pliant about such things, but I've read quite a few messages recently about people updating things and finding they become knackered - and no way back.

Am I being unduly cautious/paranoid? Should I just go ahead? Or should I wait & see? (I must say I haven't had any concerns about my security - I don't do any banking on the phone. Having said which, I think my Paypal details are cookied on it...)

I got this today too. I got stung by the update to Android 5.0.2 on my Nexus 7 (original version) some time ago. It turned a perfectly usable tablet into an expensive paperweight. I eventually plucked up the courage to re-image back to 4.4.4 and it's been fine ever since.
I'm gong to hold fire on this for the moment. I'll wait a couple of weeks to see where the problems are (if any).

Now they want to update to 6 0 1 is this bloat wear?

You go first and let me know!
Wow! The comments on that thread certainly dissuade me from any update. I just don't want one. I have no problems with the phone as it is. Next thing I'm going to have to find out is how (if) I can stop it nagging me about it. Needless to say, it doesn't offer the options 'Yes' and 'No'; it offers 'Yes' and 'Not right now', thus giving itself license to keep pissing me off indefinitely.

Select "Not right now". That will make the nag screen go away for a short time. Next time it comes up, "Not right now" is replaced with "No thanks" (or something like that). Press that and it shows where you can find the update later on. So far (one day later) there's no repeat of the nag screen.

Interesting. I actually got the 'not right now' one three or four times. Then I went into Apps and turned off Motorola updates and Motorola services and it seems to have gone away, at least for now. I'll see how it goes.
