Listen, I am 45 and I am not and never will be a MAMIL. It's a frame of mind, not your age or what you wear.
I tend to agree....I still have more energy than a lot of the mid 20 "kids" I see!

Hijacking a bit, but I have been pondering a Canyon, ride a 54 Roubaix. A lot of seat post showing and overtime lowered the stem as far as possible. Any clues from that which size Canyon? Been looking at the team edition Ultimate CLX only have it in Medium with a Standard Chainset

I have also been pondering the Supersix Evo Red seen it online for £2799 (was £3499) and Seen the hi Mod Red Racing for £3999 (was £4999) The latter I am not over keen on the tubs and do not overly like the blue bit lol

I've also seen it for that price. What "concerns" me is that in 2014 you can get a Supersix Evo Ultegra for £2499. As far as I can tell the only difference in the all important frame between this and the Red is external cabling. As a "non-professional" am I really likely to notice the difference between Red and Ultegra?!?! And as in 2014 you can get a Supersiz Evo frame spec'd with 105/Tiagara does this mean it's in the process of being phased out?

Yes, because SRAM and Shimano feel vastly different, regardless of the tier!

I have a 58 SLX Ultimate which I think is a Large in new money, and that is the right size for my 6'1''. Medium is 56, with TT of 549, so that sounds about right if your 54 Roubaix is maxed out? What stem are you using on the Roubaix?

The head tube on the SLX is 150mm in Medium, so it's not as aggressive a geometry as the Supersix.

And the 54 Roubaix TT is 548, so I would say 56 SLX is bang on for you.
Thanks, hmmm must avoid the Canyon site for a little while\!

I'm looking at sizes at the moment so I can see who has what. I ride a Medium Boardman Team CX to work (and rides of around 30-40 miles) and the fit on that is superb (or it feels like it to me). I can put power down and don't get any aches over longer distances. It just feels right. Obviously I won't buy without trying - but want an idea of size so I can find out if a shop has it in stock.

Looking at the measurements it looks like a 54cm Evo is the equivalent size to the CX. WOuld you agree?

In the end I went for the Synapse Ultegra and stuck a set of Fulcrum Racing Zero wheels on it. Have just taken it out for it's 1st full distance to work ride (29 miles from door to door) and have already taken 6 minutes off my previous best (was 1:25hrs now 1:19hrs). The thing that impressed me most was how effortless it was to ride. I got to work and instead of feeling shattered I felt really fresh. I didn't even realise how fast I was going until I passed my old "hour marker". I thought I'd been taking it easy!

One seriously impressed person!!
