I suppose it's fair to ridicule people in team replica, as I'm sure all people who wear shirts of teams that play the round ball game are mocked?

he had a pop at football supporters with beer bellies that haven't kicked a ball in years . I still didn't appreciate his frowning on folk who may wear the full sky kit as inspiration , so hoy and his brand certainly will not be getting my hard earned.

If his remarks are aimed at replica team kit I would agree with him. This though is because I don't understand why anyone would want to wear replica kit. As a football fan I do though understand, and see it differently, why fans wear replica shirts - I don't.

I wear my club kit and I'm very happy to do so. If I didn't have club kit I'd buy reasonable kit. I do wear Assos shorts as I see these as crucial to my comfort. We have club a few members who carry far too much weight and look pretty awful in Lycra. Full marks to them for not giving two hoots what people think - I do wish they'd tackle the weight issue seriously rather than just constantly talking about it but that's another topic.

Rapha makes me smile quietly to myself. Possibly the ultimate in style over substance??

I've a friend who wears nothing but Rapha and recently spent £260 on glasses. This I just don't understand.

I also can't understand replica team kit. The brands arent paying you massive sponsorship fees. After all, car enthusiasts don't dress up in a Nomex suit, helmet and HANS device when driving to the shops.

Lycra, fine. Team kit, somehow seems a little odd to my eyes.

Actually, at the Grand Prix at Silverstone it's not uncommon to see overweight middle aged men wandering around the public areas in full replica race outfits, right down to the little driving shoes.
And if you think cycling gear is expensive, don't look at how much F1 replica kit costs...
