Hi,

I've just recently bought my first bike and to be honest I'm pretty gutted! Picked up the trek a few weeks ago and due to weather it was hanging in the garage before I had a good look at it. In first look I noticed marks at the bottom of the forks and the main 'trek' decals were not straight! I took it back to my local dealer and a week later my replacement arrived (last weekend). Having a good look around this one there is still a problem and I'm wondering if there is a quality control issue!! On first glance it looks ok but looking closely, the paint work on the crossbar is not right. It feels rougher in places and there is quite a long faint scratch mark under the gloss finish.

I'm really gutted and don't know what to do! Will the dealer just think I'm being anal? Trouble is I've spent £1,200 and I'm going to be drawn to thus flaw now.

if there is any one thing youre not happy with ,.scratches marks etc then take it back , or is the another underlying reason your not happy about

Thanks for replies, I guess I'm just nervous because I've changed it once but I like things right! Re earlier post, no there is no other reason.

For £50 I would have accepted it, for £200 I would have been a bit miffed, for £1200 I would be camping out in the shop doorway !!!!

Nothing worse than being disappointed with any purchase, you will always know it is not right and see that every time you look at what should be your pride and joy. Make a list of faults and take it back.

As above mate,at the end of day it really does'nt matter what the shop thinks of you,let them think what they like,You have spent a lot of money and deserve to be happy, also you dont expect to spend that sort of money on a Trek or any other bike and it to be flawed, especially in the finish quality.

The shop really shouldn't have a problem with this. They will simply send it back to the Trek distributor as a faulty 'return'.

If you dont get satisfaction from the shop,e mail Trek.In fact e mail them anyway and attach photos. After all faults are faults.

My bike is back with Trek and here is the latest!! They acknowledge the claim and offer to send a new bike but I asked for it to be thoroughly checked before sent to dealer. I wasn't happy with finish and also the main big Trek decals on the down tube as they were not on straight (should be parallel to red paintwork top centre as per all advertising bumf and online pics). They emailed me today to confirm that the new bike has been through workshop and they are happy that the decals fall within their tolerance of 6.5mm out of alignment!! They say that on measuring from the top of the 'T' and the 'K' it has not been put on straight by 5mm!! Now to me, this is not acceptable as I'm sure I could do a better job, and just wondered what you thought please? Am I within my rights to decline the bike and ask dealer for money back or choose a different bike?

Thanks
Chris
