Should my headset look like this?

Hi, just fitted a new headset to my Boardman comp hardtail mountain bike, but I'm not sure if I've got it right. I have doubts whether it's fitted correctly because the crown race is visible.

It's a Semi-Integrated (zero stack) type, the model is a Superstar Integrato Headset

here's the headtube:

first shot showing the interface between frame and fork, crown race can be seen:

Just removed the cups and, as far as I can see, they're identical:

the crown race can be seen irrespective of which of the cups is used:

Perhaps it's not wrong after all?

have you downloaded a pdf file from the makers..?

i just installed a TANGE SEIKI headset and was able to check the dimensions before installing

although it was easier, as the frame cups were different dimensions overall WHEN the bearing seating washers where installed correctly

just checked with the headset manufacturer and they confirmed the cups are identical. I've def got the bearings the right way. I think it's actually supposed to be like this, perhaps I'll get a neoprene cover to stop muck getting in
