One in particular took my fancy, this re-purposed MAN

Given that the company that built the body, & converted it, is at Carcroft, on the outskirts of Doncaster, it made me wonder If it was sourced from the wonderful ‘Rocket Site’, aka; https://ljacksonandco.com/ (1)

Plus they chose the ‘baby’, as 6x6 & 8x8 variants were also built (2)

When finished, it was a dammed nice colour

This is the conversion company; https://www.motorcraftadventuredevelopments.com/vehicles

The base vehicle (HX60) can be found here, as can 8x8s; https://ljacksonandco.com/categories/cargo-trucks/

The blue HX60; https://www.motorcraftadventuredevelopments.com/projects/four-berth--man-hx60

1. Thus named, as it was the RAF's location for the surface to air (Bloodhound) missile defence base for RAF Finningley, about 2 miles east of the airfield (better known now as 'Doncaster/Robin Hood Airport)'
If you open the link to Jacksons above, there are aerlel photographs, & the rocket-'bays' are still there!
'About Us' has a close-up of their Bloodhound
'Information' has photographs showing the 'pads'

2. They have produced 8x8 campers:eek::eek::eek:; https://www.motorcraftadventuredevelopments.com/?pgid=jepdpftp-ae7ae147-626f-4d0e-b741-862331ef81e3

Lily, my '76 Bay Window. Got it in Australia for $4000 (£1600 back then) and had it for five years. Really wanted to bring it back when we returned to Britain in 2008.

It had been a travelers van though. Small groups would buy it, drive round Oz for a few months then sell it on, so as you can imagine it had done stellar mileage and while I'd tarted it up, I think it would have had difficulty passing a British MOT.

The previous owners were unlucky and had the engine blow. Dunno where they were but the only replacement engine the local garage could source, was a 2.0l flat-four with Bosch K-jetronic injection. It fitted perfectly well and while not adding to the value of the van, sure made it sprightly!

Toby, a Peugeot-Tabbert motorhome. Bought soon after we got back to Blighty. Again, had it for five years but it wasn't getting used so it got sold when my ex and I went our separate ways.

I saw some of these at the Overland Adventure Exhibition at Stratford race course in the beginning of June, the Unimog one was incredible, but probably a touch impractical as a daily driver.

This is my 1990s Island Plastics Suntrekker demountable, now on the fourth truck of my ownership of it, and the third Hilux.

It's taken me all over Europe for holidays and, latterly for work: this is it in the Spanish Pyrenees back in November 2019. I needed to be in northern Spain to film for a week or so, and as I'd never seen the Pyrenees, it seemed a good excuse to drive there. (You can see more about the whole trip here:

Hoping to avoid the bike trailer on this setup and just fit enough bikes in the garage, 2 is easy, 3 is OK but I’ll need to buy another Brompton if i want to squeeze a 4th.
