Can't find the actual gradiant but a few people seem to like Mucklow Hill which I go up on my commute.
http://www.action.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?id=171&p=2

I will dig out the info from my GPS when I get home.

well, i asked my dad what hill to train on and he said Mucklow's Hill in Halesowen (which was promptly accompanied with sniggers from the my brother and mom) so off i trot's down to Halesowen (in my car off course) to have a look at it.
Even my car struggled!!!! my dad reckons if i can get up that i can get up anything (he's not wrong!). so me and Penny are going to use Simon as a crash test dummy and have a picnic at the bottom while he tries the first attempt.
Seemed like a good idea at the time!

It's 302 feet climb in 0.9 miles whatever gradiant that is ?

I make that about 6.3% over 0.9 miles, which is a fair gradient over that distance.

Not my normal commute, but tonight I'm going to do 16.8 miles instead of my 10.1 miles which I've just started to do or my 6.2 miles short commute.

Nothing major by any stretch of the imagination but it keeps the legs spinning and the miles add up nicely on Mycyclinglog.

While doing this, I had a thought of what would give me a better accuracy. These charts were produced on GNUplot using data downloaded from bike hike. The biggest draw back is how they obtain the elevation data and the number of node points you have. Some systems that obtain elevation data have quite a large resolution so any small variations would be unaccounted for. The best way to gauge the profile and gradients of a cycle ride IMO is to ride it with something that can record GPS data. Then it is a simple bit of maths that you can do using a spreadsheet to get the gradient.

Mine is pretty flat 8 miles with one exception 2 miles in and I have a 400ft climb in less than a mile. Wakes you up in the morning.;)

With me living on the coast its pretty flat on my commute. Only 90 meters (295 ft) of ascent over 23kms.
I have to head too far inland to find any good climbs, so im quite jealous of you guys with hilly routes.

This is my 'quick route', it's not the most direct nor flattest it's by far the easiest as I don't have to stop that often & can just get stuck into what inclines I do encounter.
