That Tissot is just divine @biggs682

It's not my choice to make, but that's what I'd go for, regardless of what the case is made from. You just can't beat the timeless elegance of a classic dress watch. The serial number should probably be on the movement for that one IIRC.

That's the one I am hoping for as well , it won't get worn much but it will get worn .

My Certina has a model no on the rear. The Q on the face is quartz so an ETA movement.

Thank you

Never thought about changing the strap , I presumed that the strap fitted is the original one

It would've been on a leather strap originally.

Those boingy expanding bracelets are aftermarket and yeah, they were quite of-the-time. They do a good job of trapping your arm hairs. And they wear away at the lugs, as you can see from the pic.

Evidently mum seems to be pretty sure that the expanding bracelet is the original one.

I think it's an Excalibur made one and has some other details on the links but failed to make a note of the details.

A lot of the boingy bracelets were put on at point-of-sale. The watch would have left Tissot on a leather strap with a branded buckle - probably a gold one, given the watch itself is gold.

Excalibur is the watch & bracelet "own brand" of H Samuels the jewellers. Many of their own brand watches of that era had Tissot movements.

I've just gone and broken all my self-imposed rules on buying watches.

Have picked up a Casio LA680WE for a fiver in an auction on the Bay of E. Should be a nice bit of geeky fun.
