Forgot to mention we have a drying room and even a couple of washing machines

We have a special drying room with cages for wet gear and shower rooms where we have 5 individual shower cubicles and a large changing area with hairdryers power points more lockers and mirrors for both men and women.

Pretty good Ive got to say showers are massive with seats and mirrors (someone did get caught by security in a compromised position at Christmas in one I have to say gave us all a few laughs !.)

We have portakabins, they replaced the old ones last year and these are great, 8 cubicles for men, six for the ladies (cant say I have ever seen a lady enter or leave) and 2 for disabled.

There is a loo, basin, mirrors and I took an old radio in, usually have it to myself but the summer cyclists are out now so its quite busy.

I reckon I could shower before leavign and be fine, I dont really sweat much unless going for it.

Some are - We have so many showers & changing rooms I've no idea how many there actually are. Plus the nice hot radiator in my office ensures dry & hot shorts for the ride home!

I'm surprised by how many places do have showers.

I work in a hospital employing over 2000 people with no showers at all for employees.

People come to work in their work clothes and go straight onto the wards.

In France, when I visited a hospital there, all employees turn up in civvies, all have a shower and wear hospital "greens" or "blues" (those cotton things people wear on Holby in theatre). These are freshly laundered and disinfected and put in a bin for re-disinfecting at the end of the working day.

I'm sure more people cycle to work and they have a lower (slightly) rate of hospital acquired infections.

Me too, I thought I was one of a lucky few to enjoy good facilities. I often used to look at other cyclists during a commute and wonder how they managed. I have to say its very pleasing to see so many employers providing showers etc.

That is actually quite disgusting, it's no wonder there are so many cases of infectious diseases in hospitals.

No hospital should allow any staff to commute in work clothes.
